Dear Friends,
Thank you for all of your help with my search for a part time bookkeeper. I wound up hiring a retired CPA friend of 20 years. I hit the jackpot.
As good help is hard to find in this economy, I thought that this might be helpful
Actually, I hit the jackpot twice
I interviewed a second woman, (Cathy) who has 30 years of experience as the chief financial officer of a national sorority. She is retired and is looking for something to keep her busy on a part-time basis. I was very impressed with her, and had my friend not wanted the job, I would surely have hired her. She is smart, qualified, and a very nice person..
If any of you are interested in talking to Cathy about being a bookkeeper for your firm, please contact me, and I will put you in touch with her.
You may wish to look at the job description I have posted below, as it will give you an idea of what Cathy is looking for in a position. From our conversation, I believe that the three most important things to her were (1) part-time status, (2) flexibility and (3) a good work environment.
She stated that she was willing to either work in the office or remotely. That may have been influenced by the fact that she only lives about five minutes away from the office.
Thank you in advance for reading this, and considering Cathy

The Indiano Law Group is a well-established, small boutique intellectual property firm located in Fishers Indiana near I-69 and 96th Street.
We are currently in search of a part-time bookkeeper to work somewhere between about 5 and 10 hours per week. We expect that a majority of the work can be performed at home, although trips to the office from time to time may be required, especially in the beginning when you are being trained.
Your schedule would be very flexible. It is more important that you get the work done in a timely manner, than performing the work done at any particular time. We believe that the job might be especially attractive to a stay-at-home parent who has some time to work while the kids are asleep or at school, a retired person who is looking for something to keep them engaged while earning extra money and without interfering with their other activities, and someone looking for a moonlighting position to pick up some extra money.
Our goal is to work with you to create an environment that enhances your life, not detract from it.
Job responsibilities include:
Track expenses, budget, taxes, cash flow, receipts and other financial dealings of company
Send bills to clients, receive and process payments and pay office bills.

It is also important that the candidate be comfortable enough with technology so that they are not intimidated by having to learn new programs, such as AppColl, and can manipulate their computer at home well enough to successfully communicate with the office network, and to fix minor issues with their computer as they arise.
The ideal candidate will be well organized and comfortable dealing with financial data. They should be excellent at recording data and have an ability to produce clear financial reports.
